To further improve delivery security on Floriday, enforcing the minimum order quantity within direct sales is being rolled out further. This will also be checked via the API link and in Explorer. It is therefore important that the minimum order quantity is set correctly in the delivery terms and conditions. This article sets out some handy tips.
Set up the correct delivery terms
Growers can set the minimum order quantity in Floriday's delivery terms. You can choose between a single item, a container, a layer or a trolley cage. This means you can prevent orders being placed which are too small, and which you cannot or do not want to deliver.
This quantity refers to a buyer's total order. So buyers can order several items if it ends up being only one layer, for example. In the price groups you have set up for your customers, you can set the purchase unit for each item (minimum quantity for each item). This applies to every item you have in the catalogue and available to buyers.
Tip 1: Use customer-specific delivery terms.
We realise there are various arrangements in the industry regarding delivery times. If you have special arrangements with a customer about ordering a certain quantity or a certain delivery time, then set up customer-specific delivery terms. Here, you can set which buyers these terms apply to.
Tip 2: Work with 'Cost per delivery' to cover the cost of a small delivery
If the minimum order quantity applies simply because it involves certain costs, then you can also decide to work with 'cost per delivery'. This allows you to set a lower minimum order quantity and costs will be charged automatically below a certain volume or amount. Trolley cages are filled based on volume: for example, you can enter a half trolley cage here.
Please note! If you want to set this up this way, you do have to use a price group which excludes delivery and transport. Only then will these charges apply and be calculated.
Tip 3: Set ex-yard delivery terms, too
If buyers have the option of arranging their own collection, then set ex-yard delivery terms. Buyers will then also find these items if they search under ex-yard. You can choose not to have minimum order quantities for ex-yard deliveries.
Tip 4: Consider the minimum order quantity for each location
One rule often applies: the further the location, the bigger the order needs to be. This is easy to set up by creating a 'delivery terms group' for each location and setting a separate minimum order quantity.
Tip 5: Be careful setting order deadlines
If buyers place an order after the order deadline has passed, you still have one hour to manually approve the order. If your order deadline is 11.59pm, then it means you would have to approve orders at night. Adjusting this to an earlier time would allow you to respond quickly to these orders.
What happens if an order is too small?
If a buyer orders too little, then a notification will be sent one hour beforehand prompting the buyer to meet the minimum order quantity. If the order is still too small, the grower will be sent a notification still allowing them to approve the order manually. If you would rather not have to worry about these notifications, then check your delivery terms again and make sure they are set correctly.
What happens if a buyer orders outside the times?
Buyers may order outside the delivery lead times via the purchasing dashboard, the VMP link or the API link. In doing so, buyers are deviating from the delivery lead times as entered by the grower. Regardless of the order quantity, you have to accept the order manually in order for it to go through. These order requests can be accepted right up to the delivery lead time.
